PETALUMA — Katie Reynolds hit five 3-pointers and finished with 17 points as the Clear Lake Cardinals closed out the season with a 64-27 loss to the Cloverdale Eagles in a first-round girls” game at the North Central League I South postseason basketball tournament on Thursday in Petaluma.
Cloverdale, the regular-season NCL I South champion, plays St. Helena tonight in the finals at 6:30 at St. Vincent High School.
Clear Lake (6-18) trailed 19-4 after one quarter.
“The girls were playing as a team and working hard,” Clear Lake coach Jennifer Goff said. “We fell behind but continued to fight through it in the second quarter.”
Clear Lake closed to within 12 points of the Eagles early in the third quarter before Cloverdale began to pull away.
“It was a challenging season but we pushed through it and kept trying,” Goff said. “Hopefully next year we”ll show some improvement.”
Whitney Edens had 17 points for Cloverdale.
