LAKEPORT — A judge reset the jury trial Monday against a Clear Lake Riviera man charged with murdering his roommate after the defense attorney asked to postpone the trial to have an independent forensic exam of evidence.
Judge Arthur Mann set John Gray”s trial for May 4.
Gray allegedly bludgeoned Eric Joaquin to death Feb. 28 in Gray”s house in Clear Lake Riviera.
Officers found Gray at his girlfriend”s house in Clear Lake Riviera and arrested him the day Joaquin”s body was found. Gray pleaded not guilty in July.
In September, Gray”s family offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person they believe to be the actual perpetrator.
The attorneys may discuss an evidence hearing during Gray”s trial readiness conference and omnibus hearing March 15 in Department 3. Gray will also return to court April 30 for trial assignment.
Gray is being held at the Lake County Jail on $500,000 bail.
