MODESTO — The Punisher Wrestling Club in Lower Lake sent eight of its members to a tournament last weekend at Modesto Junior College in Modesto.
More than 700 wrestlers made up the field, which consisted of teams from throughout the Central Valley and Northern California.
Six Punisher wrestlers came away with medals, including two firsts. Medal winners were Joseph Hughes and Austin Fredickson, who came in first; Brian Gudino and Gabriel Freeman, who finished second; and Blake Fredrickson and Jonathan Fredrickson, who came in third.
Freeman pinned his first two opponents to reach the finals. Blake Fredrickson won his first match, lost the next but won the next two to claim the third-place medal.
