KELSEYVILLE — The Justin-Siena Braves went down 1-2-3 in the top of the first before inflicting 11 runs worth of hurt on the Kelseyville Knights in the second inning Thursday afternoon at Lloyd Larson Field in Kelseyville.

That proved to be more than enough for the Braves, who rolled past the Knights 15-0 in a non-league varsity baseball game called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

After batting around in the top of the second, the Braves added four more runs in the third.

“They pepper the ball one through nine,” Kelseyville coach Lou Poloni said of the Braves” potent batting order. “We had a frustrating inning in the second ? they hit five grounders that just found holes. They found every hole you can find in that inning.”

Mike DeGregorio, the first of four Kelseyville pitchers, retired the Braves in order in the first.

Blake Panos” double with one out in the bottom of the fourth provided the Knights with their lone hit.

“It was nice to get a game in,” Poloni said. “Our guys did a nice job getting the field ready.”

Kelseyville opened a new season minus Mike Davis (knee injury) and Steven Grossner (excused absence). Davis could be back with the team next month and Grossner will play in the Knights” next game Tuesday at home against St. Helena.

“We”re a little green right now,” Poloni said. “But we got to throw a lot of guys and give our pitching staff some game innings.”
