LAKEPORT — Lake One-Stop gave Lake County employers ideas on innovative ways to keep businesses running and employees tools to keep paychecks in their pockets at two workshops in the last month.
Nine interested employers attended the employer workshop at the Lakeport One-Stop office where they learned about how subsidized employment programs work and what benefits they offer
The Lake County Department of Social Services and Arbor Education presented their programs along with the Business and Workforce Center within Lake One-Stop. The employer workshop was Feb. 25 and the employee workshop was March 3.
Employers learned federal stimulus money funds the subsidized employment programs, among other things.
As a result of the workshop, several employers are corresponding with Lake One-Stop representatives and are considering utilizing its services.
Twenty-two job seekers also spent about one hour learning about the various programs and services that Lake One-Stop and other agencies have to offer. For example, the Business and Workforce Center runs weekly workshops for basic computer skills, resume tips, software tutorials and GED preparation.
