In my quieter moments I often wonder where have all the flowers gone? Where are those hippies and freethinkers of the ”60s who enjoyed blowing their minds with a variety of plant and man-made chemicals designed for better living. The minds racing across to the edge of the universe listening to the lost chord, following Tim Leary, Alan Watts and Alex Shulgin; seeking astral projection and magic, seeing mental neon flashes proclaiming this stuff is 99.99 percent pure, and sensing the world in an entirely new light!
Alas, the world was found to be just as it is, beautiful, giving, fantastic and full of life; enlightenment was found to be just a tear in the eye at the end of great movie, the smile of a lost friend coming home, or the smile from a simple passage in a book.
But please Al can we have a little more research before schlepping out the tired conspiracy theories and maybe trust someone over 30? The world is not full of conspiracies behind every event, gremlins under every rock, thousands of co-conspirators keeping secrets for decades on end, angels in the outfield, communists under every bed, and the blinding success of voodoo economics. Perhaps your invocation of the Sept. 11 conspiracies was just a little joke or perhaps a flashback? One can only hope!
The real world is not found by instant karma but by methodological investigation followed by peer review where the laws of science cannot be superseded by wishful thinking, mind altering substances, or prayer.
