LAKEPORT — A man allegedly sexually assaulted a 26-year-old woman while giving her a ride home about 11:20 a.m. Thursday in his dark blue or black Honda Civic in north Lakeport.

The woman did not know the man, the Lake County Sheriff”s Office stated.

The Sheriff”s Office is investigating the case and trying to identify the man.

About 9 a.m. Thursday, the woman was walking toward Lakeport on Lakeshore Boulevard near the old Rainbow Restaurant when the man pulled up an offered her a ride, LCSO reported. She accepted and he took her to a church in Lakeport. When she came out the man was still parked in front of the church and talked her into getting another ride home.

While driving back to her home on Lakeshore Boulevard, the man started asking the woman intrusive questions and took turns away from the route to her home, the Sheriff”s Office reported. He started making sexual comments to the woman as he drove around randomly in the area of Crystal Lake Way and Keeling Avenue. The woman told him to stop or let her out, but he continued with the comments and allegedly began sexually assaulting her.

After screaming and pleading with the man to let her out, the man eventually stopped on the 3000 block of Lakeshore Boulevard and continued driving south. The woman went to the first home she could, got a ride back to her home and called 9-1-1.

The woman described the man as a heavy-set Hispanic male adult in his late 20s or early 30s, unshaven but didn”t have a beard. He said his name was Roberto and was wearing a red snow beanie with tassels and blue Dickies-style pants and shirt.

Sheriff”s officers ask anyone with information on the identity of the man or his car to call them at 262-4200.
