LAKEPORT ? A defense attorney may review DNA evidence for possible further testing in a murder case against a Clear Lake Riviera man, the court ruled Monday.
John Gray”s defense attorney and the district attorney agreed on restrictions, including that the evidence must be returned April 26, just more than a week before the May 4 trial date.
Gray allegedly bludgeoned his roommate, Eric Joaquin, to death Feb. 28, 2009 in Gray”s house in Clear Lake Riviera.
Officers found Gray at his girlfriend”s house in Clear Lake Riviera and arrested him the day Joaquin”s body was found. Gray pleaded not guilty in July.
In September, Gray”s family offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person they believe to be the actual perpetrator.
Gray will also return to court April 30 for trial assignment.
Gray is being held at the Lake County Jail on $500,000 bail.
