There was a short article appearing March 11 in the Record-Bee about Mike Thompson”s telephone town hall meetings. It states that each time he holds one there are “more and more participants.” It has been almost two years since Rep. Thompson held an invitation-only meet and greet in Kelseyville. To my knowledge he has held no other events allowing him to speak openly, face-to-face, with his constituents since then. These virtual town hall meetings are our only option to share our thoughts. I have called his office a number of times to see when he will be coming to Lake County and hear our voices so he may adequately represent us in Washington. I am always told, by very polite interns, that “none are planned at this time.”
At these virtual town hall meetings, very few people get the opportunity to ask their question and the answers are long and lengthy, giving Rep. Thompson the opportunity to preach his agenda. He is not listening; he is selling the mantra of Washington.
There are many people in this county who would like the opportunity to ask Rep. Thompson about many of the issues that are very pressing in today”s economy. The Lake County Tea Party Patriots are a non-partisan organization that supports the education of our voters. We are always anxious to hear from candidates and the incumbents that represent us, Republican or Democrat, so we may make informed decisions at the polls.
