LOWER LAKE — Lower Lake High School drama club will present its annual Comedy and Tragedy Night at 7 p.m. March 19 in the campus multipurpose room.

All ages are welcome.

With 10 short scenes and a full one-act production of “Check Please,” this year”s production, hosts a variety of new talent.

“This is my first time doing a play with Ms. Lahr,” Amanda Guarjardo said. “I was really nervous when I walked into the door for auditions, but with the help from Ms. Lahr and Miranda, I can tell that ?Check Please” will be really successful.”

“Check Please” is a short play with an ensemble of 10 actors including Adam Painchaud, Keanon Jardstrom, Spence Haddan, Michelle Kimsey-Bailey, Sarah Christensen, Fallon Diener, April Morgan, Amanda Guarjardo, Rebecca Sires, Kaylee Smith and Jesse Harrell.

In addition to the one-act, a variety of monologues, duets and small group scenes will be performed by Shasta Werner, April Ambriz, Veronica Wilder, Juni Thom, Savannah Vandagriff, Venessa Jenson and Kathryn Pray along with several members of the one-act cast.

“The program has incredibly loyal students, many of whom have performed with Ms. Lahr since they were in middle school,” Miranda Hobbs said. “On top of being talented actors, some of the monologues and duet scenes are written by the advanced drama students, which is not an easy task.”

According to Hobbs, the advanced students gain college credits for their classes and are required to write all their performance pieces.

“I many regards, it makes them directors, producers and actors,” Hobbs said.

“No matter how much is on their plates with extra-curricular activities and life in general, these students return time and again to support Ms. Lahr and her program.”

“Seriously? They couldn”t keep me out of this stuff if they tried,” Painchaud, who is a senior, said. “I would sneak my way in somehow!”

The play is directed by Lahr and Hobbs. Proceeds for the production support the spring musical “Once Upon a Mattress.”

Comedy and Tragedy Night begins at 7 p.m. Friday. Tickets are priced at $3 for students, including college and adult students; $4 for senior citizens and $5 for adults.
