Regarding the recent move by Mayor Gavin Newsom to run for the office of lieutenant governor, perhaps it is time that we attach some sort of safeguard before taking an oath of office ? that the candidate cannot decide down the road to run for a different office before completing the current term and doing the job he/she was elected, in good faith, to do.
We need people in office who will stay the course. The cost of campaigning and elections is already too high, and the voting public deserves better from the people to whom they entrust their government.
