KELSEYVILLE — Taggers hit seven businesses and Lake County property after 11 p.m. Saturday in Kelseyville, including the Senior Center, the Lake County Sheriff”s Office reported.
Supervisor Rob Brown, who is also the Kelseyville High School wrestling coach, said he recruited a few of his wrestlers to paint over the graffiti on the Senior Center and it was gone by Sunday afternoon.
Business owners found the graffiti typical of the Angelino Heights faction of the Sure?os gang on Earmite, the Kelseyville Lions Club, Kelseyville Pizza, Curves, the old Kelseyville Lumber building, Kelseyville Food Center and the Kelseyville Senior Center, said Capt. Jim Bauman of LCSO.
The Sheriff”s Office thinks the businesses were tagged between 11 p.m. Saturday and midnight. All of the graffiti appeared to be from the same party, who used black spray paint, Bauman said.
Businesses should make sure they are well lit and install security cameras if possible to deter taggers, Bauman said.
Bauman said graffiti happens now and then in Lake County.
“It definitely indicates the presence of gangs,” Bauman said. “It”s also very destructive.”
