CLEARLAKE OAKS — A two vehicle collision on Saturday in Clearlake Oaks caused minor injuries to one person and extensive damage to both vehicles. The head-on collision occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Highway 20 west of Hillside Lane.

According to California Highway Patrol Officer Joseph Wind, Melissa Dale, 27, of Clearlake was driving eastbound on Highway 20 when for unknown reasons she allowed the 1990 GMC Jimmy she was driving to cross over the double yellow lines as she was coming through a right hand corner. Dale”s vehicle hit head-on a 2005 Dodge Dakota driven westbound on Highway 20 by Billy Weeks, 57, of Lucerne.

Officer Wind said the GMC caught fire and major damage was sustained by both vehicles. Northshore Fire Protection District Clearlake Oaks Station responded for the fire and medical transport. Weeks was transported to St. Helena Hospital Clearlake for minor injuries sustained in the crash. CHP Officer Jensen is investigating the incident.
