KELSEYVILLE — The buzz saw that is the St. Bernard High School softball team rolled through Kelseyville on Saturday and swept the Knights 19-0 and 11-0 in a non-league doubleheader.

Both games were decided in five innings because of the 10-run rule.

“They are amazing,” Kelseyville coach Greg Giusti said of the Crusaders (3-0). “We took a shellacking ? they just overpowered us. I thought we were playing a college team and my daughter plays college ball, so I know what a college team looks like.”

Kelseyville (1-3) managed four hits on the day and Ashley Mueller had three of them, including the Knights” lone safety in game one, a fourth-inning single. She also went 2-for-3 in game two.

Sarah Ringler went 4-for-5 with a double and two home runs for the Crusaders in game one, which featured a 10-run third inning.

Kelseyville starting pitcher Jillian Allen worked three-plus innings before giving way to Sabrina Lyons. The two combined to walk only three. St. Bernard pounded out 20 hits.

“The silver lining is they kept their heads in the game and they tried their best,” Giusti said of his players. “My kids never quit. We were just overmatched.”

Kelseyville plays under the lights tonight in Healdsburg. First pitch is 5:30 p.m.
