CLEARLAKE — Sweet dreams of pampering came true for Orchard Park Assisted Living and Memory Care Community resident Tula Kuchinski, 90, last week when she visited Girlfriend”s Salon in Clearlake.
Salon Owner Jeri Spittler and stylist Christy Murch spent the day tending to Kuchinski”s every wish. Kuchinski left the salon with beautifully manicured nails, massaged feet, a pedicure and a stylish hairdo.
Kuchinski was born in New York City and lived most of her life in the New Jersey area. She has been a resident at Orchard Park for the past year. “She had her own interior design company in New York City,” Orchard Park Administrator Kimberly Kent said. “She is very classy, loves style, music and anything sweet. She likes to look good so we knew this dream would be perfect for her.”
Kuchinski”s day at the salon was made possible through Orchard Park”s “Ageless Dream” program. Staff is seeking the assistance of the community to help fulfill the dream of another resident.
Kent said that three-year resident John Hall needs a new, large recliner. She said Hall is on a fixed income and does not have any family to assist him.
“Griffin”s Furniture has offered to pay half but we need someone to help with other half,” Kent said. “He loves to sit in his recliner and watch movies and his current chair is falling apart. John is a big guy, around 6”3″ and this would be a great dream for him.”
Orchard Park welcomes guests from the community to join them in celebration of National Art Week. An art show featuring local artists, including a couple of Orchard Park residents, will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday at the facility, 14789 Burns Valley Road in Clearlake. Refreshments will be served.
