LAKEPORT — A former Nice resident is set to go to trial April 27 for the alleged murder in 2007 of a taxi driver who was a beloved community member.

Morgan Matthew Jack, 33, will return to court 8:15 a.m. April 12 in Department 3 for an omnibus hearing, where lawyers can file motions and confirm the trial date, said chief deputy district attorney Rich Hinchcliff.

Jack allegedly killed Paul Joseph Womachka June 27, 2007 after Womachka picked Jack up as a fare after midnight that day at Robinson Rancheria Resort & Casino.

Womachka was reported missing that day.

Authorities found Womachka”s body two days later inside his submerged Hey Taxi van in the marina near Konocti Vista Casino Resort & Marina on the Big Valley Rancheria in Lakeport.
