Watching the health care kabuki dance, no matter how cynical I get, I can”t keep up. Mike Thompson remains the slickest politician since Huey Long. After bankrupting California as a legislator, he”s now helping Obama bankrupt the country.
A recent Record-Bee gave the perfect example of how Thompson deceives us. A front page story in huge letters showed a grinning Thompson holding tournament bass. Inside was a letter from Jaxan Christensen in which she wondered why Thompson didn”t explain his actions in Washington in open forums instead of inanely grinning at local events.
When he was new he tried open forums; he doesn”t now because his explanations stunk like dead fish. I attended one and asked this: “What about illegal immigration?” His goofy reply: “We need to make Mexico so rich they won”t want to come here.” Good luck. Drug-rich Mexicans now decimate one another in border towns.
His forums are now by phone so he controls topics, questions and answers. Earlier he bragged about writing the health care bill. Now his answers about Obama-care are straight out of the musical “Chicago;” you can hear tap dancing as he speaks.
Imagine his explanation to old buddy Al Gore regarding fuel he burns flying 6,000 miles round trip for a ravioli feed here. How dare he prohibit offshore drilling for us while China and Cuba drill our offshore oil?
Before the invasion, Thompson sneaked into Iraq, sucking up to Saddam Hussein, implying Bush was stupid for considering the invasion. Had Bush taken Thompson”s advice, instead of a friendly republic in the Mideast, we would have Saddam, probably with WMD, carving up the oil country with Ahmadinejad next door in Iran. When did Thompson last explain that?
Thompson gets away with this stuff because, like Huey Long, he believes he cannot lose an election with nearly half the people in his district on the government payroll. He obviously believes he can successfully betray us as with corrupt, nation-destroying health care.
Have we forgotten that fascism is government control over corporations? That Nazi was an abbreviation of national socialism? That socialism brought 70 years of misery to the Soviet Union? If you think it can”t happen here, compare Mike Thompson and his fishy grin with his votes in Washington.
The path for Christensen is to expose Thompson”s true record, gather voters and retire him to his vineyard that we paid for.
