LAKEPORT ? A defense attorney made a special appearance Friday for a North Hollywood man accused of attempted murder of a Lakeport man.
Raymundo Catalan, 31, did not enter a plea. He will return to court 9 a.m. April 2 for appearance of counsel and to enter a plea.
Catalan allegedly argued with Marshall Wisterman, 35, and then shot him at close range on Jan. 4 outside of the north Lakeport man”s home.
When Lake County Sheriff”s Officers responded to the shooting at the Lakeside Village Estates Mobile Home Park, they found Wisterman lying in the hallway of his home with a gunshot wound to his abdomen, said Capt. Jim Bauman of LCSO.
An air ambulance flew Wisterman to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, where he was released after several weeks of treatment for the gunshot wound.
The Sheriff”s Major Crimes Unit investigated the identity of the shooter and the motive for the alleged attempt on Wisterman”s life, leading to an arrest warrant for Catalan. Although a resident of North Hollywood, Catalan has ties in Lake, Sonoma and Marin counties, Bauman said.
U.S. Marshals found and arrested Catalan Feb. 9 at a North Hollywood restaurant without incident. Marshals found a large quantity of methamphetamine in Catalan”s vehicle at the time of his arrest.
Officers transported Catalan Feb. 17 to the Lake County Jail where he was booked on suspicion of attempted murder with a $750,000 bail.
Officers are still investigating the reason for the argument that apparently led to the Jan. 4 shooting, but detectives have determined that a .45-caliber semi-automatic pistol was used in the alleged attempted murder of Wisterman. Law enforcement officers haven”t found the gun, but a slug was recovered from the scene.
