UPDATED:

Last week every employee in the Lakeport Unified School District arrived at school one morning to find a personally addressed political campaign letter in their district e-mail in-box from Judy Luchsinger. Her letter touted how she was the best qualified candidate for the position of County Superintendent of Schools and encouraged us to vote for her.

Most of the teachers I spoke with felt violated in their personal work space by this type of campaigning and wondered how she could have obtained every employee”s district e-mail address.

California Education Code section 7054 states that “No school district funds, services, supplies, or equipment shall be used for the purpose of urging the support or defeat of any ballot measure or candidate …”

My question is, can we trust a person who either ignorantly or intentionally disregards the California Education Code for personal gain, to run our county office of education?
