LAKEPORT — Triskela Harp Trio”s much anticipated return to the Soper-Reese Theatre at 7 p.m. April 17 will provide listeners with an evening of inspirational music from around the world. With a repertoire of traditional tunes, lively jigs and lovely airs of the Celtic tradition, as well as sophisticated contemporary compositions, Triskela presents a multi-faceted and highly entertaining performance.
The Triskela Harp Trio ? Diana Stork, Shawna Spiteri and Portia Diwa ? has played throughout the Bay Area. Their wide range of music is performed on beautiful hand-made harps, accompanied by three-part vocals, flute, penny whistle, and a variety of percussion instruments. Named after the triskele ? an ancient Celtic symbol consisting of three interlocking spirals ? Diana, Portia, and Shawna weave beautiful harp music with spirit, to create a concert with a distinctive sound which is also visually appealing.
The three members of the group have performed together since 1997. Diana Stork is well known in the harp world for her unique style, which incorporates ethnic and contemporary harp traditions. Shawna Spiteri is the group”s lead singer and emcee. She has performed extensively in the Bay Area. Portia Diwa started playing harp at age 9 and has been actively performing ever since.
Special opening act, Uncorked, will be on hand to lend to the evening”s entertainment. Comprised of local musicians Eleanor Cook, Andi Skelton, Teale Love, Don Coffin, Dan Harris, Dennis Hadley and Greg Bushta, they will set the tone for a night of musical pleasure.
