Add an Eleventh Commandment?
One response to the Pope”s assessment today that sexual abuse charges against hundreds of priests in scores of countries adds up to “petty gossip” ? is that he consider adding an Eleventh Commandment: “Thou shalt not commit sexual abuse against kids.”
Hundreds of millions have already been paid in lawsuits against the church. Victims are now testifying on television; one priest, it is reported, ran amok in a school for deaf boys!
Who could imagine anything worse than an adult to whom youngsters turn for spiritual salvation ? blight their lives forever with such hellish behavior? Another realistic suggestion for the Pope: how about getting busy totally revamping the training of priests? It couldn”t hurt!
