Regarding Don Freeman”s letter published March 31 finding fault with Gary Dickson”s editorial about responsible adults not needing car seat belt laws to protect them, I want to say that such laws were passed due to the high number of deaths in vehicular accidents as well as irresponsible adults and teens driving dangerously. It has been the same with bike helmet and DUI laws.
Contrary to the beliefs of some, there is no Big Brother telling you what to do. These laws were passed to save lives, especially those of the innocent who have been maimed and killed by irresponsible people! My grandbaby was maimed before his first birthday by such a driver.
This is not rocket science and this is not a conspiracy theory. This is plain good common sense.
