I am concerned about the water rate increase. On March 4 Cal Water had a formal meeting with the community of Lucerne. It was attended by an administrative law judge who oversaw the meeting. It”s too bad there were not more people from the community to let Cal Water know that we can”t afford these higher rates.
At the meeting, Cal Water proposed that they wanted the increases to go in effect Jan. 1, 2011, so why have water bills almost doubled? It”s only April and we already have an increase.
One of the topics that was not discussed at the meeting was that Cal Water wants to raise the water rates without any notification to its customers. That doesn”t sound like good business for anyone.
We have had a lot of rain over the last few months and all I did in the yard was rototill the front yard and my water bill went from $70 to $160. That”s not right. It”s pretty sad that Cal Water chooses to take advantage of a poor community like Lucerne.
