WINTERS — The Middletown High School baseball team fell 10-0 to host Winters in the championship game of the Winters Tournament on Saturday morning.

Middletown (4-8) had won each of its first three games in the round-robin tournament and was trying to wrap up its second straight Winters title, but the Mustangs could manage only four hits and didn”t play well in any phase of the game.

“Winters was a good team,” Middletown coach Mitch Tucker said. “We made a couple of crucial errors and we walked five in the first 2 1/3 innings.”

Winters led 8-0 after three innings and the game was halted after the top of the fifth because of the 10-run rule.

Dylan Pastor went 2-for-3 with a double and Bryan Holt and Eric Schenk, the losing pitcher, had the only other Middletown hits.

Pastor, Holt and John Hays were named to the All-Tournament team.
