CLEARLAKE — Fatal injuries were sustained by one as the result of a two vehicle collision Friday around 2 p.m. on Old Highway 53 between Putnam Lane and Laguna Avenue. Name of the victim was not released at press time.
According to Clearlake Police Sgt. Tim Hobbs, a man driving northbound on Old Highway 53 in a Hyundai Tiburon apparently crossed over the double yellow lines and collided head-on with a Ford Explorer.
The driver of the Hyundai was pronounced dead on the scene. Hobbs said the couple in the Explorer was transported to St. Helena Hospital Clearlake by Lake County Fire Protection District medics for minor-to-moderate injuries.
No further details were available as of press time Friday. The incident remains under investigation.
