On today”s Opinion page (April 8), Randy Ridgel is once again attempting to show the Record-Bee subscribers how intelligent he is regarding anything and everything, especially in the past. He started out with the so-called leftists and their so-called new truth, and then went on to Al Gore and the ozone hole. He then went into what he calls the miracle of man-made global warming. Next he went into the spotted owls that shut down sawmills and caused loggers to end up in homeless shelters. He even went after the smelt and their affect on irrigation in the San Joaquin Valley. Eventually he even got into ethnic problems and even naming some of them and their ethnic status and what he believes happened to them. His fantastic knowledge totally overwhelms me and I am sure the rest of us ignorant individuals as well. My mind is now overflowing with bits of absolutely useless information that is outdated and is only the half-truths that he is attempting to overwhelm us with. As you can readily see, I am no fan of Ridgel”s way of thinking. I will not go any further into his letter, as discussing it will be a waste of time and I even bore myself just thinking about it. What we need today are positive ideas that can actually work and can do everyone some good. Please, no more negative stories from the past. If you cannot find anything constructive and up to date items to write about, just stop writing and the world will manage to move ahead without your input. I apologize to all of you readers if I bore you with my feelings about Randy Ridgel”s letters, but to me his letters are irritating and boring and made up of half- truths, and I felt that I had to have my say about it. I want to thank the Record-Bee for having a page that gives us the opportunity to speak out about various things that we do and do not like. Do not be afraid to speak up, but if you do, you must sign your name and location. I have received several telephone calls from readers of the Record-Bee, telling me that they were pleased to read what I wrote regarding Randy Ridgel and his thoughts. Thanks to you all for the very encouraging calls.
