Health care bill signed ? now what?
As we face the challenges ahead of us I expect nothing less than excellence from our community. I am a 25-year resident of Lake County, currently a full-time student at Mendocino Lake College and a mother of three. I am proud to live in a community that is rich in character, diverse in culture and a people with extraordinary talents who are willing to give of themselves and their resources.
After becoming ill I became unemployed and uninsured. I suffer from chronic illnesses and I”m thankful not to be under critical care. I am pleased to announce that I have been selected to receive the Mendocino College Foundation Evelyn R. Foote Scholarship in the amount of $1,500.
I am humbled and extremely thankful for the motivation and support of our Mendocino College Lake Center faculty and the community at-large. Sutter Lakeside Hospital Wellness Center and The Healing House faculty have agreed to provide services now, while I wait for the distribution of monies.
The Mendocino Scholarship Foundation will host the Ceremony awards May 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Grove on the Ukiah Campus. I am blessed to be a full-time student during a time such as this because; I am eligible for grants and scholarship monies. I hope this encourages and motivates people who have been laid off from work or have become a displaced worker due to illness. Never give up hope!
