MIDDLETOWN — In a battle of No. 1 singles players, Middletown”s Miriam Lane rallied past Kelseyville”s Moses Kuzu 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 on Friday in Middletown, but the visiting Knights still won 4-1 in Coastal Mountain Conference tennis action.
“They”re both really good,” Kelseyville coach Jeff McLaren said. “It was a great match ? they were hitting it a ton.”
Lane rallied from a 5-2 deficit to win the second set.
In other matches, Alex Stempe beat Gerry Espinoza 6-1, 6-2 in No. 2 singles; Stephen McQueen defeated Jeremy Turner 6-1, 6-0 in No. 3 singles; Josh Alvarado and Glenn Mostin were 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 winners over Jeanine Zolczynski and Tasha Gibbs in first doubles; and Monique Santana and Nils Mostin beat Nicca Gibba and Maddie Kucer 6-1, 6-0 in second doubles.
Kelseyville is 7-0 on the season.
