MENDOCINO COUNTY — A Willits man died in a crash after he veered off Highway at 20 9:07 p.m. Sunday approximately three miles west of Highway 101 and hit a tree, California Highway Patrol stated.
Law enforcement declared Randall Cardillo, 46, dead at the scene, CHP stated.
Cardillo was driving his 1995 Ford F-250 west on Highway 20 at an unknown speed and for unidentified reasons veered off the right shoulder, through a fence and into the tree, causing fatal injuries, CHP stated.
Cardillo was wearing a seatbelt but the truck didn”t have front-impact air bags.
Little Lake Fire Department extricated Cardillo, who was then transported to Anker-Lucier Mortuary in Willits, CHP stated.
CHP closed the westbound Highway 20 lane for about an hour for the investigation.
