LOWER LAKE — Anderson Marsh Interpretive Association (AMIA), the cooperating association for Anderson Marsh State Historic Park, is planning a day of family fun. An old fashioned “Day in the Park” will take place on May 22 at Anderson Marsh, located off Highway 53 between Clearlake and Lower Lake.

The event will showcase the talents and wares of local students. Tours of the marsh area and the ranch house will be offered and live music will fill the day. The Children”s Museum of Art and Science will coordinate old fashioned games for the kids, such as sack and wheel barrow races, as well.

“The public is invited to come out and celebrate education by support local classrooms and schools,” Frank McAtee, event coordinator said. “Teachers and students will be selling crafts, products and food to earn money for field trips and special events. You will experience all levels and grades highlighting their individual talents, from kindergarten to 12th grade.”

The day will begin with a guided tour by Harry Lyons. Participants should meet at 8 a.m. in the front parking lot at Anderson Marsh. They are advised to bring water and wear appropriate walking shoes.

Music will be provided by popular local musicians throughout the day. Those scheduled to perform include Tom Nixon, Uncorked, Blue Collar, 3 Deep, Dennis Purcell, Don Coffin and his mandolin and mandola students; the Cobb Stompers, Michael Barrish, Blue Moon and Alan Markowski and Barbara Jo Bloomquist.

The Career Tech Pathways Program at Lower Lake High School will feature delicious food from its culinary program. The welding program will offer handmade products for the most selective shoppers. The automotive pathways and construction program will raffle oil changes and $100 Mendo Mill gift certificate donated by Northcoast Builder”s Exchange.

“All proceeds from services, crafts and food sales will directly benefit the individual classrooms,” McAtee said. “AMIA is proud to support outdoor education at Anderson Marsh State Historic Park and we are excited to participate with schools in this wonderful hometown event. Anderson Marsh is the ideal outdoor educational classroom and it is also a great place for community to come together and spend a beautiful day at the park.”

No pets are allowed and alcohol is also prohibited. Guests are advised to bring their own lawn chair or blanket. Seating is not provided.
