CLEARLAKE — Officers engaged in a search following a report of a subject firing a shot at a residence Thursday in the area of 18th and Phillips avenues in Clearlake. According to Clearlake Police Sgt. Tim Hobbs, it was later determined that the shot was fired at a person, whose identity was not disclosed. Sgt. Hobbs said no one was injured in the incident.
After about an hour search, dispatch relayed a message indicating that the suspect wanted to turn himself in. Matthew Anduja, 23, of Clearlake was taken into custody without incident at approximately 12:57 p.m. on the 15000 block of 18th Avenue.
Clearlake Police responded to the area of 18th and Phillips avenues at approximately 11:47 a.m. following the request for officer assistance. Sgt. Hobbs said that the weapon used in the incident was recovered, identifying it as a short-barreled shotgun.
Area schools were put on alert with Highlands Campus, Yuba College Clear Lake Campus and the college childcare facility put on locked-down until about 12:55 p.m.
Lake County Sheriff”s Department assisted in the search effort.
Anduja was booked into Lake County Jail on charges of brandishing a firearm and possession of a short-barreled shotgun.
