SONOMA COUNTY — A 78-year-old Clearlake Oaks man who was involved in a car crash May 4 died Friday at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital from his injuries, California Highway Patrol reported.
Theodore Brown died from blunt force trauma from the crash, CHP reported.
Myrtle Brown, 77, of Clearlake Oaks was driving south on Highway 101 in Mendocino County with her husband, Theodore, when she hit a downed tree that law enforcement and community members were trying to remove from the highway about 2:04 p.m. May 4, CHP reported.
The car spun and overturned, causing major injuries to driver both, CHP reported. CHP didn”t have an update Monday on Myrtle Brown”s condition.
Both Browns were wearing their seatbelts, CHP said.
An air ambulance transported Theodore Brown to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. An ambulance took Myrtle Brown to Frank Howard Memorial Hospital in Willits. CHP is still investigating the crash but alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the cause, CHP said. The Laytonville Volunteer Fire Department, Cal-Star Helicopter, Ukiah Ambulance, Caltrans, Mendocino County Sheriff”s Office and community members assisted at the crash.
