I am a liberal Democrat, but I vote independently, for whoever I believe is the best candidate for the job. I think the Tea Party is a phony outfit, funded by the far right wing of the Republican Party, attracting those bigoted and raciest voters who scream smaller government and lower taxes as their cry. Not one time have I seen news about them that hate was not obvious as their driving force. They do not represent, at least my idea of a fellow American, in any way, shape or form.
At a time when our nation needs to come together to deal with current problems, their effort is to further divide our citizens. The media covers their less than American activities as a way to gain viewership for their stations and media sources of income. We have allowed for absolute lies, falsehoods and innuendoes to be reported as facts, a shame we all should be ashamed of, but, the power of corporate America has become that controlling, along with the lack of honest representation of this nation”s citizens, by many of our elected officials at all levels of government. A matter that must be corrected. The fact that liberal-thinking citizens have stepped up to the plate during these hard times is, in my mind, a lucky thing as the cold heartedness of the conservative thinkers would have made the hardship being experienced during this time so much more sorrowful for so many.
We are so divided these days, I truly don”t know if our nation will take the correct path to bring the greatness back to our country, but I will hope that we will, and allow those generations that follow to learn from this period in our country”s history. I now doubt that, at my age, I will see our citizens take back control of this nation from the military-industrial complex or from corporate America, as the use of violence and greed seems to have sunk their roots deeply into our everyday thinking as a people. But, having grown up in the pre-1950s, I did have the pleasure of seeing and feeling the really wonderful era that this nation passed through. I have also been touched by the electronic era of today, and found many joys in knowing that era also. For myself, Walt Disney set the best example of a business, that balanced quality, with profit levels and a touch of world class humanity for his fellow man, that I wish had gone on after his death. Maybe some day in the future, a person like Disney will again show the merits of his character, as a businessman, and will influence others, to follow his lead. We all can dream.
