LAKEPORT — Mendocino College and Lake County Theater Company (LCTC) are again producing a huge production featuring 37 cast members, 18th-century costumes, sword fights, fist fights, romances and heaven know what-all. The performances will take place at the Little Theater at the Lake County Fairgrounds. And the tickets are out there!

“Tom Jones” is a theater and screen play by David Rogers based on a novel by Henry Fielding. It”s a hilarious, romantic romp, which took the movie-going world by storm in the ”60s, winning an Academy Award. It is well written, fast moving and slightly naughty, which gives it something for nearly everyone. Children will love it, by the way.

In addition to beautiful women in hooped skirts and handsome men in tight britches, there are highwaymen, conniving females, over-protective fathers and a social system that is enough to launch another Tea Party.

This next theater event will open June 4, with evening performances taking place at 7 p.m. June 4,11 and 12 and afternoon matinees at 2 p.m. June 6, 12 and 13. Tickets are $12 for reserved and $10 for general seating, two dollars less for seniors, students younger than 12 and LCTC members.

Reserved and general tickets are available at Catfish Books in Lakeport, 263-4454. General tickets are available at Griffin Furniture in Clearlake, 994-2112.
