CASPER, Wyo. — Former Middletown High School football star Tyler Owen has qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) on June 13-19 at the Casper Events Center.
Owen, a freshman at Lassen College, has qualified in bareback riding.
The CNFR features nine rodeo events — bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, tie-down roping and steer wrestling for men, and barrel racing, goat tying and breakaway roping for women. There is also a team roping event which features male and female competitors.
Along with individual titles, the contestants are trying to bring back team titles to their respective colleges and universities.
Each contest competes in three preliminary rounds prior to the finals on June 19. The top 12 in each event advance to the final round.
