CLOVERDALE — Bouncing back from a 10-9 loss a year ago in the inaugural North Central League I North-South All-Star Baseball Game, the South All-Stars overwhelmed the North 11-3 on Saturday at Cloverdale”s City Park.

Clear Lake”s Ryan Richardson went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and three runs and teammate Jesse Phillips went 3-for-4 with three RBIs to propel a 14-hit South attack.

The South snapped a 2-all tie with a four-run top of the fifth inning and never looked back in the nine-inning game.

South pitchers Robby Rowland of Cloverdale, Richardson and Cloverdale”s Brandon Southard combined on a three-hitter. Richardson picked up the win with four innings of one-hit relief. He struck out seven and walked three. Rowland, drafted in the third round of the Major League draft on Tuesday by the Arizona Diamondbacks, started and allowed one run in three innings. He left the game trailing 1-0, the result of a RBI single by Middletown”s John Hays in the bottom of the first.

Fort Bragg”s Brent Moyer pitched the first three innings for the North. Middletown”s Dan Sallee came on in relief and worked the next 1 2/3, allowing five runs. He was charged with the loss.

South players with two hits apiece were Southard, Rowland and Trent Kaher, all of Cloverdale.

Hays, Kelseyville”s Blake Panos and Fort Bragg”s Garrick Tallman had the only hits for the North. Moyer also had a RBI for the North.
