TEHAMA COUNTY — A 72-year-old Clearlake man slammed into a bridge driving the wrong way on Interstate 5 Tuesday in the Red Bluff area, causing his death, California Highway Patrol (CHP) stated.
The man was driving south at a speed of approximately 70 mph in the northbound fast lane when the lane ended at Dibble Creek Bridge, according to CHP. Witnesses told CHP the man never hit the brakes.
The 1996 Ford Ranger spun clockwise and came to a rest facing north in the fast and slow lanes. The man”s name was not released by press time as the family was not notified. The crash is under investigation.
