LAKE COUNTY — Under the instruction of Mark Hill from Lake County Fire Protection, Police Officers Robb Koopman and Kris Schoessler from Yuba City Police Department, Narinder Dahliwal from the Health and Social Policy Institution and Volunteer Coordinator Tammy Alakszay, nine people from Lake County, Yuba City and Oroville are attending a National child passenger safety certification training program held at the Brick Hall in Lower Lake. The training is a 32-hour course that will end Friday at the Lake County Fire Protection District station on Olympic Drive in Clearlake. The students will check baby or child car seats for the public on Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. free-of-charge. If the car seat does not meet with standards, is broken or is not the correct seat for the baby or child, a new one will be installed at no cost. The program is made possible because of grant money donations from First Five of Lake County. The past four years more than 1,200 seats have been replaced.
