LAKE COUNTY — A Lake County probation officer was arrested about 3 a.m. Saturday on suspicion of driving under the influence, California Highway Patrol reported.
A CHP officer pulled over Stephen Shryock, 42, of Lakeport early Saturday morning on Highway 29 north of Highland Springs, CHP Officer Joe Wind said. Shryock was off-duty and driving his own vehicle.
Chief Probation Officer Meredith Helton said Shryock is still employed with the department and he is not on leave. She said there will be an internal affairs investigation of the matter during which the department will determine the appropriate action.
Shryock was booked into the Lake County Jail about 6:20 a.m. Saturday on suspicion of misdemeanor driving under the influence.
Wind said it was a routine traffic stop and Shryock didn”t crash his vehicle.
“There was nothing out of the ordinary,” Wind said.
