Thank you for the continuous support you have given these students and their families. I”m pleased that justice was served for the seniors but not to those who were also involved and didn”t come forth. We can all agree that the punishment was excessive but what about those who didn”t step forth, is there going to be punishment for them? These students are asked to uphold honesty and integrity but how can they uphold what is being asked of them when others are not? The students who were drinking hard liquor are those who didn”t have the courage nor responsibility to step forth. Those are the students who should be expelled. On June 18 Kelseyville High School”s class of 2010 walked on stage and one leading student who didn”t come forth will go unpunished. Not to mention that the “K-ville Five” only had a few sips of beer but those who had hard liquor will walk free.
I feel that nobody has mentioned anything about the advisors. The K-Corps advisers should be stripped of their titles and the organization should rest until they find someone well-qualified that will be capable of doing the job without favoritism toward the students. A person with good morals and one who doesn”t lie about what went on inside the organization. One of the current advisors mentioned something in regard to the so-called tradition to one of her squad leaders.
I feel as no one is doing a thorough investigation on the advisors but just the students. Even though the advisers aren”t allowed to do certain things, that doesn”t stop them from stripping the students from their titles within the organization. As a concerned alumni of Kelseyville High School, I feel as if all former and current members, regardless of minor or major infractions, have broken the contract. As the contract states on section IV, “Any member found to have violated 10-12 (confidentiality) code will be excused from K-Corps.” What happens when an advisor breaks the contract? Why were the board members called in to be the deciding vote on this incident when the K-Corps contract clearly states in section II and III who should have made the decision of what had occurred on “the overnighter.”
Did anyone else know that former K-Corps students were on camp premises while this incident occurred. Parents weren”t even allowed to reach their children but how can those former members be allowed. Therefore, the advisers should have to pay the consequences for their negligence. The students paid off their suspension for their actions and privileges. I hope there will be a further investigation for the future and safety of our students.
