LOWER LAKE — A fire sparked in an alfalfa field Saturday off Morgan Valley Road in Lower Lake calling for the use of dozers. Approximately four acres burned.
Best access to the fire was off of Rocky Creek Road.
Fire suppression response was requested at 2:53 p.m. Saturday for smoke and flames showing. Upon arrival Battalion Chief Willie Sapeta, of Lake County Fire Protection District advised approximately three acres engulfed in an alfalfa field with partial green fuels.
“It was in a field of fresh cut hay,” Sapeta said. “The property owner was doing a pretty good job getting it contained with his dozer when we arrived.”
CalFire responded with units including a dozer and air tanker. The fire was reported contained at 4:06 p.m. with an approximate one to one and half hours of mop up.
Five engines, a water tender, air tanker and dozer crew responded as did Sapeta and a CalFire battalion chief.
