HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE — A Hidden Valley Lake man was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 29 on Friday. California Highway Patrol (CHP) has identified the man as James Dyment, 56.
According to the CHP, at approximately 1:20 p.m. Dyment was traveling southbound in his 1994 Acura Integra on Highway 29 in the Hidden Valley Lake area north of Grange Road. CHP said Dyment pulled his vehicle onto the right shoulder of the roadway. He then allegedly proceeded to make a U-turn directly in the path of a 2008 Toyota Camry driven by Michael Damiata, 40, of Lakeport, who was also traveling southbound on Highway 29 at approximately 55 mph.
CHP said that Damiata did not have time to brake or take evasive action and the front of his vehicle struck the driver”s side door of Dyment”s Acura. Dyment was pronounced dead at the scene.
Occupants of Damiata”s vehicle, including a woman and two children, were transported to St. Helena Hospital Clearlake for treatment of minor injuries.
The CHP said that neither party was suspected of driving under the influence at the time of the collision. Investigating officer is J. Bushey.
