MIDDLETOWN — Judith Copeland, a 52-year-old resident of Hidden Valley Lake, was injured in a single-vehicle crash on Friday.
The Clear Lake area California Highway Patrol reported that Copeland was driving her 2005 Ford 500 eastbound on Highway 175, west of Santa Barbara Avenue near Middletown. Copeland was driving at an undetermined speed when, for an unknown reason, she allowed her vehicle to drive off the south paved roadway edge and onto the dirt shoulder. Copeland”s vehicle continued down the shoulder, where the right side of the vehicle struck a large pine tree. The vehicle then overturned and came to rest on its top on the north side of the roadway.
Copeland sustained major injuries as a result of the crash and required extrication from her vehicle. Copeland was transported via REACH air ambulance to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
The roadway was restricted to one-way traffic control for a short time, while Copeland was extricated from the vehicle. Agencies on scene included the CHP, CalFire and South Lake County Fire Protection District. The CHP reported that the crash is still under investigation.
