There is really a very simple solution to the entire mess we are in. We must get the corporations and the Supreme Court out of our lives. If you recall it was the Supreme Court that put George W. Bush in office and therefore allowed the entire Iraq mess to take place. Taking it one step further, I guess you could blame the Supreme Court for the war in Iraq.

They didn”t stop there, oh no. Then they turned the country over to the large corporations by allowing them to contribute any amount to the political campaigns, which renders the people who want to vote powerless because the corporations and lobbyists buy the politicians and therefore control how they vote. Our elections must be funded by the government so that there can be no outside influence, only the vote of the people without the electoral college. There should also be term limits as many of the Washington folks are just getting way too old and it would appear maybe a bit senile. A good example of the control that large corporations have over congressmen is the statement made about the $20 billion trust fund that BP has to set up., calling it a shakedown by representative Joe Barton, Rep. of Texas, and the congressman who receives the most money from large oil corporations.

I know that what I propose will never happen because the very people taking the money are the ones who would have to vote to stop it ? fat chance. Why can”t we have a straight-forward government that truly has the interests of the people at heart?

As things stand now, unless the Supreme Court reverses the decision regarding contributions to political campaigns, we have little or no control over anything in our government. We bow to the large corporations!
