LAKE COUNTY — Over the Fourth of July weekend, one DUI arrest was made by the Lakeport police department, six DUI arrests were made by CHP in Lake County and one small fire was reported to the Northshore Fire Department.
According to Joe Wind, Clearlake CHP Officer, six DUI arrests were made in Lake County during the Fourth of July reporting period. The reporting period started on Friday at 6:01 p.m. and ended on Monday at 11:59 p.m.
DUI arrests over the Fourth of July weekend have risen versus last year”s count of three DUI arrests made during the reporting period, Wind said. No fatal collisions were reported during the reporting period, matching last year”s count of no fatal collisions.
Statewide, Wind said, 1,438 DUI arrests were made by CHP during the Fourth of July reporting period; an increase of 199 DUI arrests from last year”s count of 1,239. Thirteen fatal collisions took place over the weekend statewide, resulting in 14 deaths; a decrease from last year”s count of 14 fatal collisions resulting in 16 deaths during the reporting period.
According to Capt. James Bauman of the Lake County Sheriff”s Department, no boating under the influence arrests were made between Friday and Monday.
According to Lt. Brad Rasmussen of the Lakeport Police Department, one DUI arrest was made in Lakeport at 1:32 a.m. on July 5. Seven public intoxication arrests were made between Friday and Monday in Lakeport, but the weekend was, “About average for calls,” Rasmussen said.
One small fire was reported on the Elem Indian Colony in Clearlake Oaks on Sunday, according to Michael Baldwin of the North Shore Fire Department. The cause of the fire was undetermined at press time.
