Second Sunday Cinema screens ?Collapse”

CLEARLAKE — Second Sunday Cinema”s free film for July 11 is Michael Ruppert”s just-released DVD, “Collapse.” Ruppert is predicting the collapse of Western industrial civilization due to government and corporate fraud, corruption and “Peak Everything.”

As director Chris Smith explains about “Collapse,” “We wanted the film to feel like an interrogation, that you”re stuck in an unknown location getting let in on secret information. It was all an attempt to get the audience inside Michael”s head.”

Second Sunday Cinema will also show a short selection from “One Giant Leap,” a musical documentary interweaving music from around the world to show that Earth”s inhabitants all are, in essence, one.

Lake County resident Nils Palsson, who just got back from attending the U.S. Social Forum (20,000 attendees) in Detroit, will be sharing the information he gained there on Transition Towns, an international grassroots movement (www.transitionnetwork.org/). A discussion will follow his 15-minute talk.

Admission is free, as always.

The film will screen at the Clearlake United Methodist Church at 14521 Pearl Ave. near Mullen in Clearlake. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the film starts at 6 p.m. For more information, call 279-2957.
