I would like to see the Record-Bee conduct a survey of the citizens of Lake County as to what type of businesses they would like to see opened in the county. These could be both retail and manufacturing types of businesses.
When completed, take the top 20 or so vote-getters and advertise the desires of the county”s citizens in a few of the larger cities in California, Oregon and Arizona, to give out-of-county business-minded folks that information.
By providing folks with skills, investment dollars and the simple desire to become a new business owner, this type of free, local research could bring new businesses to the county. There are many folks who have lost their previously high-paying jobs, have no desire to take burger flipping positions and are looking for a way to bring a better income to their families.
Local government agencies could be in the ad, as well as gaining some funds to paying for these ads from banks, real estate firms, the chamber of commerce, etc., that could have their company phone numbers listed for contact purposes. A nice picture of the lake in the ad would be good, as a picture truly is worth a 1,000 words.
