CLEARLAKE — Orchard Park Assisted Living and Memory Care Community welcomed the public to the facility Monday for an evening of relaxation and Southern-style cuisine. The Summertime Blues event brought guests together for casual socializing in Orchard Park”s beautiful garden area where they enjoyed Blues and jazz music, catfish and hushpuppies, pecan pie and wine poured by Cleavage Creek winery.
Lake County Model As added a nice touch to the event. Vintage vehicles lined up before the entrance of the facility on Burns Valley Road in Clearlake casting a sense of nostalgia upon guests as they entered.
Guests enjoyed Blues and jazz music played from the garden porch by Jim Williams of Strings ?n Things in Lakeport. Williams” easy styling added comfortable sounds to the leisurely get together.
Pouring selections from the garden porch opposite was Cleavage Creek Winery ? the winery with a cause. Ten percent of Cleavage Creek wine sales is donated to breast cancer research. Winery owner Budge Brown lost his wife of 48 years to the disease and is now using his award-winning wines to raise awareness and fund research for a cure.
An image of a brave breast cancer survivor graces the label of each bottle of Cleavage Creek wine such as “Debra” who is featured on the gold medal-winning 2007 Napa Reserve Petite Sirah.
“Debra maintains a busy schedule as an award-winning writer and inspiring lecturer. This breast cancer survivor is truly making a difference. Somehow, she finds time for voluntary visits to hospitals and nursing homes, often accompanied by Max, her certified therapy dog. Debra brings her tireless energy, infectious humor and zest for life to all of her endeavors and Cleavage Creek Winery appreciates her many contributions,” it states in Cleavage Creek News ? live to love life. Her full story can be viewed on the Web site at www.CleavageCreek.com.
Cleavage Creek Sales and Event Coordinator Elisa Cranston said that the winery is anticipating establishing a permanent home in the Pope Valley area. She said currently selections are available at Cleavage Creeks” sister winery, Tulip Hill in Nice. She said area retailers are also providing venues for sales. Some locations include Foods, Etc. in Clearlake; Hi-way Grocery, Fast Easy and The Wine Studio in Upper Lake; and Saw Shop Bistro and Gallery in Kelseyville.
