MIDDLETOWN — The Coyote Film Festival celebrates the power of music with screenings at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m. this Saturday in the Cartwright (Calpine) Geothermal Visitors Center, 15500 Central Park Road in Middletown.

The program features four short films:

* “Raised Alone” by Sam Kadi. Obsessive workaholic Murad Bandley prioritizes ensuring his family”s financial security over raising his neglected son, Adam. Now, an accomplished violinist, Adam performs his world-renowned solo, bestowing upon viewers a glimpse at his childhood attempt at reconciliation (29:0 minutes).

* “The Wall” by FSU College of Motion Pictures, Television and Recording Arts. Two anguished souls share an apartment wall and music, saving them both (7:30 minutes).

* “Waiting for a Train, the Toshio Hirano Story,” a multi award-winning short by Oscar Bucher. From Tokyo to Tennessee, the film chronicles the humorous and heartfelt true story of Japanese emigrant and bluegrass musician Toshio Hirano, whose life was forever transformed by the music of country legend Jimmie Rodgers (20:0 minutes).

* “Victoria” by Charles Sommer. Film about an old piano at the St. Anthony Foundation Dining Room in San Francisco and the folks who bring it to life and find solace while playing (12 minutes).

The presentation also features “Tah-Dah,” an animated short film by Stacey Chomiak, described as a fun romp with musical notation (2:20 minutes).
