Quilt and Textile Exhibition seeks entries
LOWER LAKE ? The Lower Lake Historic School Preservation Committee will host its 17th annual Quilt and Textile Exhibition from Aug. 7 through 28 in the Weaver Auditorium.
The public is invited to bring quilts and fiber artwork for display. Items can be brought to the museum through July during regular business hours, 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday.
Featured artists will include the Clear Lake Quilt Guild, renowned weaver Sheila O”Hara and her students and members of the Sheep Thrills Spinning and Weaving Guild.
Works include quilts, weavings, tapestries, clothing and other fiber art items, in soft and subtle pastels to bold colors and textures.

Free proctoring available at Lakeport Library
LAKEPORT — Free proctering is available to students who need a proctor for online college exams at the Lakeport Library, 1425 High St. Proctors are generally available on Thursday afternoons. For more information, contact the Lakeport Library at 263-8817. Donations for this service are graciously accepted by Friends of the Lake County Library.
Auditions for ?Nutcracker” performance
MIDDLETOWN — The Middletown Dance Alliance will be holding auditions for its fourth annual Nutcracker, noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 21 at the studio, 21055 Bush St. in Middletown.
Auditions are open to all of Lake County dance school students and performers ages 6 to adult. The director will speak to each performer and request them to act or dance out (in groups) small parts for the audition.
The production will be held in December.
This production is a full-length Nutcracker, with stage settings, lights, props and dramatic costumes. It”s a fun, but professional, family-oriented atmosphere and a way to set family traditions. Main Street Gallery plans juried show
LAKEPORT — Richard Seisser, chairman of the Lake County Arts Council”s Main Street Gallery Committee, has announced that in answer to many requests from last year”s participants there will be a juried show that will hang in the Linda Carpenter Gallery during the month of September. The theme for the show will be “Lake County Living,” pictorials representing the joys of living and visiting in Lake County. Tom Zephyrs, internationally known painter in many genres and mediums, will jury the show in August.
The jury process will be open to all two-dimensional media with a maximum image size of 16-by-20 inches or 320 square inches. Courtney exhibiting at Lakeport City Hall
Pat Courtney is being featured in a one-woman show at the Lakeport City Hall as part of the Lake County Arts Council”s Art in Public Places program. Courtney is exhibiting a wide variety of her work in both watercolor and acrylics.
Courtney is a frequent artist at the Main Street Gallery in Lakeport. Her work will be on display through August at Lakeport City Hall.
?Falling Leaves Quilt Show” seeks entries
LAKEPORT — Ladies of the Lake Quilt Guild invites quilters to enter pieces in its ninth annual “Falling Leaves Quilt Show,” taking place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 2 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Lake County Fairgrounds, 401 Martin St. in Lakeport.

LCC hosting a ?Night with the Stars”
LAKEPORT — Lakeport Christian Center presents “A Night with the Stars” at 6 p.m. July 18. The evening event will feature a free concert with a variety of LCC”s own musical artists. Sebastopol film festival seeks submissions
SEBASTOPOL — Sebastopol Center for the Arts is accepting strong, independent documentary shorts and features for its Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival. Youth-made films are welcome.
The film festival will take place March 4 to 6, 2011 at the Center for the Arts, 6780 Depot St., and other community venues.
